The Titans have shown that they are very interested in acquiring Turner, but probably for less than is required by the current offer sheet. Mike Reinfeldt has started discussions with both Turner's agent James "Bus" Cook and with the Chargers. Reinfeldt stated on the subject "We've had some general discussions with Bus as far as compensation and with San Diego to see what they might want".
Currently the Titans would be required to compensate San Diego its first and third round picks in the upcoming draft. The price tag is too high for the Titans currently, but trade scenario possibilities leave the door open for negotiations. The deal would have to be worked out pretty quickly with the draft coming up in three weeks. Reinfeldt stated "It would seem to behoove everyone to get something done well before the draft".
While it appears that negotiations have been heating up between the Titans and the Turner, there are other teams very interested in Turners services. He is visiting with Buffalo today after postponing a previously scheduled meeting on with them on Wednesday. The Bills are looking to replace someone at running back after the loss of Willis MaGahee to Baltimore.
The Titans still have a scheduled meeting with Corey Dillon next week to discuss his possible addition to the squad. The Titans will continue to prepare for the draft and try to land another running back to help second year quarterback Vince Young after the loss of starter Travis Henry.
