With the OTA's having started up for the Titans and the first workouts with rookies and veterans the center of attention at Baptist Sports turned to someone that isn't even on the squad.
Free agent WR Keyshawn Johnson appears to be poised to possibly join fellow USC alum Jeff Fisher and the Titans. Johnson who was released last month by Carolina after the NFL draft has been in conversation with the Titans staff concerning his future. Johnson caught 70 receptions last year and he appears to be as consistant as ever depite turning 35 years old.
Former teamate Kevin Mawae stated " He's an incredible athlete and wonderful receiver and he works harder than most players in this league. He plays hard and he practices hard and that's the kind of guy we need in this locker room."
Johnson has confirmed his interest with the Titans and he should be in on Friday to enter discussions with the team.
QB Vince Young stated "I really feel like he can come in and help some of the young guys at receiver."
Johnson's addition to the team appears to be a great fit for the squad , but longtime fans hope that he doesn't follow in the footsteps of past free agent signings at wide receiver like Yancy Thigpen and Carl Pickens. Neither Pickins or Thigpen ever panned out to the potential that was expected before signing with the Titans.
Vince Young needs an established posession receiver to continue his growth in the league and Keyshawn Johnson would be the best possible player available to fill the bill
