Thornton played in 15 games last season for the Titans and started in 13 games despite struggling through a shoulder injury during the second half of the season. His performance on the field solidified the defense finished the season as the third leading tackler. With his recovery complete and expectations set high for the upcoming season, the time is drawing near for his role to increase on the field for the Titans.
On the current status of the team Thornton stated “I really feel good about our team and I like our chances. We are really playing with confidence right now and practicing hard everyday. The commitment level is here and the right attitude is here. Even if we don’t have the best players across the board, we have the right players her to get the job done.”
The Titans defense will be looking for strong consistent play from a healthy Thornton this season after seeing what his presence meant to it’s effectiveness. Thornton continued “ I feel that if we stay committed and listen to one voice, which is Coach Fisher voice. If everybody comes back and we stay healthy we have a good chance of doing some big things next year.”
Thornton appears to ready and step up and carry a bigger load this season and is working towards the start of the season. He commented “It won’t be long and the preseason will be here and then we will be week one down in Jacksonville.” The time is now for David Thornton.
