The Titans offense looked to be in sync in both the passing game and rushing attack with QB Vince Young playing into the third quarter. Young went 11 of 16 for 96 yards and 1 touchdown passing and 1 rushing on the night before giving way to Kerry Collins and Tim Rattay.
Along with Young and White the offense was was also highlighted by the play of receivers Brandon Jones (3 rec., 29 yds., 1td) and Eric Moulds(4 rec., 29 yds.).
The defense continued to look sharp in the final pre-season game and was led by the play of LB Keith Bulluck who had 6 tackles and Kyle Vanden Bosch and Bryan Scott who both had sacks on the Green bay QB's. The defensive line put consistent pressure on the QB while holding the Packers to just 61 yards rushing on the night.
On special teams the highlight of the night was rookie wide receiver Chris Davis who had 2 punt returns for 92 yards which included a 70 yard return for a touchdown. His play should secure him a roster s[pot for thr egular season.
Head Coach Jeff Fisher spoke to the media after the game with these comments.
Fisher: "This officially completes the preseason exercising. I have to say that considering what we have done the last couple of weeks, this team has shown that it has the ability to respond to challenges and to accept challenges. As a staff when they have placed emphasis on something they have responded. With that being said, I have to say that I feel pretty good about what we were able to accomplish.
There are some very, very difficult decisions to make the next couple of days as far as the roster is concerned. However, this evening we did get some production out of some of the players that we needed to see production from.
Overall, I think we have a healthy club right now going into the regular season. We had just a few minor things today. Casey Cramer has got a mild knee sprain. Aside from that, we have some normal bumps and bruises. It was a productive preseason from a health standpoint.
A couple of side notes, the quarterbacks did not throw an interception this preseason which is good. For the most part, we protected the football. We got the football back. We did some good things on special teams from the core group guys all the way down to some of the younger guys.
Now, everything we do from this point on is no different than what everybody else in the league (is doing) and that is to get ready for the opener. We start tomorrow with meetings and some difficult decisions and then begin preparations for Jacksonville."
What did you think about Chris Davis’ returns?
Fisher: "We drafted him because of his return ability and we also drafted him because of his ability to make plays offensively. He has shown that. The last couple of weeks he has shown that he has the ability to receive the punt and go north and south with it, especially is good to see. We will continue to work with him as far as the decision making process."
Is the team ready for the start of regular season?
Fisher: "We have done everything possible in my opinion. I would have liked to have seen some things be a little different in the two early preseason games, but those are behind us. We will have to see. This team loves to practice. It has endured some very difficult weather conditions over the last weeks. It is important that we freshen up, we rest up, and we focus. Now, it is time to put a good game plan together and sit and watch and execute for real."
How did Corey Simon do during his playing time?
Fisher: "I didn’t see the tape, but it looks like he remembered how to play defensive tackle, which is good. I saw him involved in several plays just as they were happening. He felt good about what he was able to do considering he had an extended layoff."
What did you think about LenDale White’s block on Vince Young’s TD run?
Fisher: "I didn’t see it, I just heard about it. That’s not uncharacteristic of the guys on offense. They are all going to help the quarterback and they are going to help each other."
