The Tennessee Titans haven't made runs into the playoffs in recent seasons but have shown improvement on both sides of the ball. We're taking a look at what they need to do to get back to playoff contention.

Players Added

Justin McCareins/WR - He's back where it all started. McCareins is a favorite of offensive coordinator Mike Heimerdinger and will have a good chance to revive his once promising career.

Alge Crumpler/TE - If healthy, Crumpler will have a big role in Heimerdinger's passing game.

Dwayne Blakley/TE - He'll handle a blocking role with Tennessee.

Jake Scott/G - He's slated to replace RG Benji Olson who is retiring.

Jevon Kearse/DE - The former first-round pick of Tennessee is back to finish his career in a situational pass rushing role.

Josh Stamer/LB - The former Buffalo Bills backup linebacker will see most of his playing time on special teams where he'll provide the most impact.

Chris Carr/CB-KR - The former Raider will play in Tennessee's dime defense and will also return kicks.

Players Lost

Chris Brown/RB - He'll back up Ahman Green with the Houston Texans.

David Givens/WR - He's coming back from a devastating knee injury and his future is clouded.

Eric Moulds/WR - The veteran wide receiver may retire.

Ben Troupe/TE - He's one of five tight ends on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers roster.

Ben Hartsock/TE - He'll compete for playing time, likely as a backup, with the Atlanta Falcons.

Jacob Bell/G - He'll start at LG for the St. Louis Rams. Leroy Harris will get a shot to replace Bell.

Antwan Odom/DE - He got a nice free agent deal with the Cincinnati Bengals and will line up opposite Robert Geathers.

Travis LaBoy/DE - The Arizona Cardinals beat out the Cleveland Browns for his services. LaBoy is expected to play OLB not DE in Arizona's 3-4 scheme.

Gilbert Gardner/LB - The former third-round pick of the Indianapolis Colts found a new home with Detroit Lions.

Kelly Herndon/CB - He turned out to be a disappointment last season and got demoted.

Pre-Draft Team Needs

Defensive End - With the loss of Antwan Odom and Travis LaBoy, there's a huge void left opposite Kyle Vanden Bosch.

Wide Receiver - Offensive coordinator Mike Heimerdinger covets a speedy receiver that can stretch the field for his vertical stretch passing game.

Center - Starter Kevin Mawae turned 37 earlier this year and they don't have his eventual replacement on the roster.
