Cal TE Craig Stevens may prove to be a very sound selection for the Titans with his excellent blocking skills and mean streak. Read what he has to say about becoming a Tennessee Titan.

(On if this is where he expected to be drafted)

Craig Stevens "Yeah, this is about right. I thought I was going to go second or third round."

(On if he had indication Titans were interested)

Stevens "I talked to the coaches a little bit, but I wasn’t sure."

(On how he thinks he will fit into Titans system, if he will be used as a run blocker)

Stevens "I think that is one of my strengths so I think the coach will try to get the ball in my hands and develop me as an all around player."

(On what he thinks about Titans offense)

Stevens "I’m not real familiar with the whole offense. I’m looking forward to learning. I’m really excited to have the opportunity to compete and play."

(On his impression of Titans quarterback Vince Young)

Stevens "He’s an awesome player. I’m real excited."

(On his impression of Titans running back LenDale White)

Stevens "He did an unbelievable job (at USC) when we would play them. It’s going to be awesome to have the opportunity to play with him."

(On joining a team coming off a playoff year)

Stevens "I’m always competing and trying to be the best. I’m real excited about the chance to play."

(On if he has been to Tennessee before)

Stevens "I spent about a month training for the combine in Tennessee. I was over in Franklin (D-1 Sports) right outside Nashville. I stayed there for a little over a month. It was a great time and I met a lot of great people. I had an opportunity to see the landscape."

(On if he met Titans second round draft pick DT Jason Jones when he was working out at D-1 Sports)

Stevens "I had an opportunity to spend some time with him. It was about 15 or 20 of us total."

(On how he ended up training in Tennessee)

Stevens "I wanted to get away from California. Just working out and doing the best I could for the combine. My agent recommended going out there and it was great."

(On what happened the opening game with the Tennessee Volunteers a couple of years ago)

Stevens "A few years ago when I was on kickoff return, I was in a middle wedge and going head-to-head with one of their guys on the kickoff team and my head turned a little bit and I got knocked out. It was just a clear hit."

(On his cousin that won an Olympic medal in pole vaulting)

Stevens "My cousin was in the Olympics in 1984 and won the silver medal. My other cousin goes to school at California and he’s on the track team and pole vaults as well. He does a pretty good job."

(On if he has been involved in pole vaulting)

Stevens "No. I never did. I would probably break the pole."
