Jamie Newberg's Notes:
Mitchell was essentially a three year starter for the Ducks at cornerback. He had a big season at Oregon in 2013, recording five interceptions, 59 tackles and seven pass breakups. Mitchell has good size at 5-foot-11, 192-pounds but only ran 4.63 [forty] at the NFL Combine. He did post a 4.00 short shuttle, which shows he has good quickness and lateral movement. This correlates with how well he can break on thrown ball. I see him working best in a zone intensive scheme.

Williams had a Heisman like season and finished as one of the finalists for that award after rushing for 2,177 yards and X touchdowns. For his career, he rushed for a school record 3,729 yards and 28 touchdowns in 44 games on 705 carries. Williams is 5-foot-11.5/230-pounds. He ran a 4.56 forty at the NFL Combine with 1.56 10-yard split. Williams posted a vertical jump of 38", had a 10'9" broad jump and 4.06 short shuttle. He's best between the tackles. Williams is strong with deceptive speed. He has good balance and can be a workhorse.

Ellington is a super athlete that also was a point guard in Columbia for South Carolina's basketball team. This kid is blessed with a ton of speed. In the right offense, his game translates very well to the NFL. Ellington is a big play guy that is great in space. Ellington played all three years for Steve Spurrier and was one of the best offenisve players the last two seasons. He had 89 receptions for 15 scores in 2012 and '13.

Jones was a two-year starter in Happy Valley. He recorded 56 tackles, 11.5 tackles for a loss and three sacks this past season. Jones has good size. He's just under 6-foot-4, 322-pounds. He uses his length (33 ½" arms) to his advantage and he gets off the ball well. Jones has strong lower body and shows flashes of athleticism on the inside. He needs to play with more consistency.

Jones is one of the most versatile linebackers in the draft, as he played everywhere at this position in Tallahassee for the Seminoles. This past season Jones was entrenched at the strong side linebacker position. He posted 56 tackles, eight tackles for a loss, two sacks, one interception and six quarterback hurries. He's a long (33 ½" arm length) 6-foot-3, 240-pounds. Jones possesses good closing speed. He's aggressive, athletic and plays with discipline.

Bitonio started 36 games at Nevada and was a 1st Team All-MWC selection in 2013. He's a shade over 6-foot-4, 302-pounds. Bitonio ran a 4.97 forty (1.68 10 yard split) at the NFL Combine. He bench pressed 225-pounds 22 times, had a vertical jump of 32" and posted a short shuttle time of 4.44. He's solid in both run blocking and in pass pro. Bitonio has good feet, good length (33 7/8), balance, bend and motor. This is a tough customer.

Thomas has been one of the most dynamic players in college football since his arrival on the Oregon campus from Los Angeles. Nicknamed the ‘Black Mamba' he's electric with the ball in his hands and can score from anywhere on the football field. Thomas has home run speed and quickness and is a dangerous return man and excels in making plays in space. He's this draft's Tavon Austin. Thomas had 15 career touchdowns of 30 yards or greater. Thomas missed a handful of games in 2013 with an ankle injury.

Borland was the Nagurski-Woodson Big 10 Defensive Player of the Year after recording 111 tackles. He finished his career at Wisconsin with 420 tackles, 50 tackles for a loss, and set a conference record with 15 forced fumbles. This is a tackling machine. Borland is a downhill guy that plays with a fast motor. He's just one of those guys that's always around the ball making something happen. Borland's too short (5-foot-11) and too slow (4.83 forty) but he makes play after play. He's just a football player.

Smith played for four seasons and stared 27 games at Arkansas. He finished with 122 tackles, 29.5 tackles for a loss, 24.5 sacks, 20 quarterback hurries. Those are some pretty good numbers. He's only 6-foot-1 but he's long (34 1/8 arm length) and weighs 266-pounds. Smith only ran a 4.71 forty but had a very good 10-yard split (1.59). He gets off the ball and up field fast. Smith plays hard and fast and is a good athlete who can get after the quarterback and make plays behind the line of scrimmage.

In 2013 he was 2nd Team All-American after his 15 sack and 23.5 tackles for a loss season. He's 6-foot-5, 250-pounds. Murphy has long arms (33 7/8") and big hands (11 1/8"). He only ran 4.86 [forty] but did post a 4.20 short shuttle and 35.5" vertical jump at NFL Combine. Murphy is a smart, high energy, get after it kind of player. He's a good athlete that can rush the passer and make plays in the backfield off the edge.

Adams posted a huge 2013 season and benefited greatly with playing alongside quarterback Derek Carr at Fresno State. All he did was catch 131 passes for 1,645 yards and scoring 24 touchdowns. Those were all school records. Adams was a two-time All-American and winner of the Paul Warfield Award. In his two playing seasons he finished with 233 receptions and 38 touchdowns while averaging nine catches and 116.5 receiving yards per game. Those are insane numbers. Adams has excellent ball skills and superior leaping ability (39.5" vertical jump at NFL Combine). He's not a speed demon but fast enough (4.56 forty, 4.30 short shuttle). Adams is still young with plenty of time to continue to develop.

Sutton is smaller (6-0/303) defensive tackle prospect. He has short arms (31 1/14). But in the game of football the low man typically wins the battle in the trenches and Sutton plays with nice leverage. He has good quickness and uses his hands well. Sutton recorded 48 tackles, 13.5 tackles for a loss and four sacks as a senior. Don't let last year's sack total fool you, he can rush the passer pretty effectively for an interior defensive lineman. He looks like the best fit playing the three-technique.

Niklas had 13 starts in 2013, catching 32 passes for 498 yards, scoring five touchdowns. This is the next standout tight end from Notre Dame. Niklas is a very intriguing prospect because of his size, athletic ability and versatility. He's a good receiving tight end and his blocking has improved.

Richardson finished his career as third all-time in receptions (156), fifth in receiving yards (2,423), second in touchdown receptions (21) at Colorado. He ran a 4.4 [forty] with a 10-yard split of 1.54. Richardson had a 38" vertical jump and 10'4" broad jump. Richardson showed the ability as a Buffalo to get behind the secondary and be an outstanding deep threat. He's a big play guy but his size is certainly going to be an issue at the next level.
